"Tidehaven trustees appoint Mike Pierce to fill board vacancy" by: Jessica Shepard

Tidehaven ISD trustees appointed Mike Pierce as the newest board member after meeting in executive session Wednesday, Jan. 27.
Pierce’s appointment fills Lee Edward Pierce’s board vacancy after his death last November.
“Mike Pierce is a Tidehaven graduate and hometown product,” said TISD Superintendent Dr. Andrew Seigrist.
“He was the head football coach and athletic director at Tidehaven before going to Edna ISD where he served in the same captivity.
“I’ve been doing the football broadcasts with Coach Pierce for the last two years and appreciate what he brings to the board of trustees,” Seigrist said.
“As a lifelong teacher, educator, coach, and administrator he will bring a unique set of gifts to our trustee leadership team,” he added.
Pierce would hold the board position until the next trustee election in November 2022, where he would have to file as a candidate and win to carry out the end of Lee Pierce’s term.
Pierce will be sworn into his position at the February board meeting.
Board members also selected trustee Mike Galvan as the new secretary pro tem to take over Lee Pierce’s former obligations in that position.
