"Public hearing presents proposed airport zoning ordinance revisions" by: Mike Reddell

A March 18 public hearing on a proposed amendment to the Airport Zoning Ordinance was the central focus of the Bay City Matagorda County Airport Zoning Board at its meeting March 4.
The public hearing will be at noon Thursday, March 18, at the Schulman Movie Bowl & Grille at 6655 7th St.
The board directed form letters that went to 1,050 “owners whose property lie within the Airport Zone, as defined by the revised ordinance.”
“We need to make sure everybody is notified,” said Bill Cornman, Airport Zoning Board chairman.
One area the board discussed last week is the need for a permit fee for new construction within the Airport Zone.
“It’s up to City Council to set fees if something comes up – if it affects aviation safety,” Cornman explained.
