Coach Darin Dabelgott shows girls the district championship trophy they won.

“This is the best team I’ve ever had,” Bay City Ladycat Soccer Head Coach Darin Dabelgott exclaimed after his squad defeated Needville 10-0 in the last district game to claim the District 24-4A title Saturday, March 30.
Dabelgott has plenty of playoff experience, but this year’s team was heavy in experience en route to a 20-0 overall record and 14-0 in district.
“We have lots of seniors,” he explained, and the team also plays lots of underclassmen, setting the stage for future victories.
“Everybody gelled out there,” Dabelgott said of Saturday’s game, one of the marks of this year’s team.
The team set several school records this year, including the most goals scored (106) and the least amount of goals scored upon (8).
Bay City will begin its playoff campaign with a home bi-district contest against North Forest at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 26.
