"When we go to God we can know he hears us, knows our pain " by: Caleb Gibson

Christ has many titles and names. He is called Messiah, Savior, Son of God, Son of Man, Friend of Sinners, and High Priest.
Jesus is our great High Priest. There is much value in knowing Christ as our High Priest.
This is important because Jesus represents us to God - He sympathizes with us, and we can go to God with confidence.
Last Sunday I got up and told my Church, “Jonathon before the service went to the Bank on Saturday and pulled out a brand new hundred-dollar bill.”
I told the church how this is valuable.
Now money is when it is your own. Because you spend it, you felt the loss of this.
After I had talked about this with the church, I took his money and tore it into shreds.
I explained how the one who this hurt is not me but it was Jonathon because it came from his pocket.
This money is not as valuable to me because it is not my money. When we make Jesus our High Priest and savior, we are making a personal investment.
It is good to say Jesus is God. It is better to say Jesus is my God. So, we have to value what we have.
We need to take ownership. Value God because He value you. We value what is ours.
Now what those in the congregation didn’t know is that this was movie money.
It wasn’t a real hundred. I had simply used this as an illustration.
A priest is one who represents the people to God. So, having a good priest is important because it will give us peace that we can have a good relationship with God.
The book of Hebrews tells us that we, “have a great high priest” (Hebrews 4:14).
I love the phrase that the Bible uses.
This phrase great shows that Jesus is greater than those priest before him. There are Seven reasons Jesus was the great High Priest.
First, He didn’t have to offer a sacrifice for himself. Every priest had to offer a sacrifice for themselves because of their own sin.
Next Jesus used the reverse Uno card. Instead of offering a sacrifice, Jesus became the sacrifice.
For a good man to die for another is a great story, but for Jesus to die for us is an amazing story.
The third reason Jesus is greater is because He was the only sacrifice needed for sins of all time.
Jesus when He had died on the cross sat down at the right hand of God. He did this because the word was over.
The fourth reason is that, He is an eternal priest. Fifth, He is not a weak.
Hebrews tell us, “For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.” (Hebrews 7:28) (NIV).
Jesus is perfect forever. We can be like Jesus. Through the cleansing of our sin we are made holy like Christ. We are made clean like Christ. Sixth,
“He is merciful. God is always a God full of mercy and love. Some priests didn’t have mercy like Jesus.
But Jesus is full of grace and truth.
The final reason that Jesus is a great priest is because He understands what we go through.
Jesus lived thirty-three years on this world and went through many trials and difficult times.
   He was tempted and tested.
When we go to God we can know that He hears us and knows our pain.
Go to God today. Because Jesus our High Priest is alive, we are alive too!
Because Jesus was sinless, He able to give His life for us and become the perfect payment for our sins.
Rest today knowing that you have a great High Priest.
