Bay City pre-kindergarten classes are all smiles for this photo.

Bay City Independent School District recognizes the value to our students and their families of quality early-childhood education, so in the 2011-2012 school year the district invested in full-day Pre-Kindergarten classes.
Registration is going on this week in BCISD for those classes.
“I have been a part of starting Pre-Kindergarten programs from scratch in two different school districts (Rivercrest ISD and Thrall ISD) in Texas and we expanded to full day Pre-K in BCISD with excellent results,” said BCISD Superintendent Keith Brown. “We have buckled down and made this program a reality for our kids.”

Hardy still believes in helping the city

Gertrude’s guests

Sentinel photo/Mike Reddell
Gertrude Hardy, center, greets guests at a reception at the USO Building-Bay City Service Center last Thursday, March 26.

Gertrude Hardy’s dizzying number of contributions to her community gives her a public-service resume matched by few others.
Gertrude, in her dry wit and self-effacing way, would dismiss the plaudits and welcome her numerous friends and family and such was the case at a reception in her honor at the USO Building Thursday afternoon, March 26.
“I’m glad I’m hearing the honors now while I’m still here,” she said, following remarks from County Judge Nate McDonald and Becca Sitz to the gathering.
