Resolution urges state to allow more shrimping licenses

A resolution asking for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for a rule change for Matagorda County and Texas shrimpers was approved by commissioners court here Monday. A key part of the resolution calls attention to the Parks and Wildlife’s limited entry program that pared shrimp licenses by 75 percent.

City, VFW agree on Dunn site easement

An easement agreement with VFW that’s part of the Dunn Heat Exchange project under way north of Bay City was approved by city council last week. While the final platting with the city for Dunn’s 177-acre site isn’t complete, the easement from Phillip H. Parker VFW Post 2438 adds to the project’s checkoff list.

Kubena a step closer to goal to get big store

Richard Kubena has been working since 2006 to get a major convenience store in Markham.

Richard Kubena nine-year quest to turn Markham wet and to draw a major convenience store on Texas 35 there got an encouraging push from Matagorda County Commissioners Court Monday. Kubena’s petition drive in 2014 collected 880 signatures from Precinct 4 registered voters to seek a local option election to permit beer and wine sales for offpremise consumption only.
