   Bert Lewis Huebner, 88, passed away November 5, 2017. He was born November 9, 1928, in Lane City, Texas to George Lee and Leta Belle Taylor Huebner who bore five sons.
   Bert graduated Wharton High School, Class of 1946, and attended Texas A & M College, Class of 1950.
   He married Dorothy Ann (Dot) Baer Huebner in 1953 in Bay City, Texas. After leaving Texas A&M, he entered the United States Air Force Officer Pilot Training Corps wherein he received both his commission and his wings at Foster Field in Victoria, Texas. 
   Bert served during the Korean conflict as a jet pilot with an all weather interceptor squadron located in Maine. His primary duties were being dispatched well out over the North Atlantic to intercept unidentified and potentially hostile aircraft inbound toward the United States.

   Karen Parsutt Countz, 70, of Bay City, passed away October 18, 2017, at a Bay City nursing center. 
   Karen was born on September 25, 1947, in Palacios, Texas, to Steve Parsutt and the late Joyce Smith Parsutt.
   Karen was raised in Matagorda County and graduated from Bay City High School class of 1966. She later attended and graduated from Katherine Gibbs of Boston Mass. 
   She married Tommy Wayne Countz on August 16, 1969. 
   She was a homemaker most of her life but spent the last 25 years bringing joy and laughter to everyone that she met with her jokes and wonderful humor.  
   During those years she never met a stranger.

   Hugh William Strickland, Jr. experienced his heavenly birth on March 5, 2017.
   Bill was born in Bay City, Texas on May 23, 1939, to Hugh William Strickland and Sylvia M. Boney Strickland. 
   He is survived by: his wife, Anna; four daughters, Deborah Martinez (Woody), Sherri Cook (Doug), Shelly Straub (Andy), Lauren Doan Cutrone (Cameron); two step-children, Heather Zittle and Johnnie “Bubba” Zittle; two sisters, Sue “Suzy” Strickland Romberg (Arnold), Ann Strickland Sherrer; brother, Mike Strickland (Sandy); 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Sylvia, brother in law John Sherrer, previous wife Linda Doan and grandson Cory Choate.

   Dorothy Ann Baer Huebner, 86, of Bay City passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. 
   Dot (or Shorty as she was affectionately known) lived her entire life in Matagorda County. 
   She was born on February 26, 1930, in Bay City and grew up in Matagorda. 
   She moved to Bay City upon her marriage to her loving husband of 63 years – Bert L. Huebner. 
   Dot was co-manager, along with Bert, of the Baer Cattle Company for over 50 years. 
   Dot’s fervent passion for protection of her family legacy combined with her steadfast commitment to following good judgment and sound business practices helped guide and sustain the family ranching business for a substantial portion of its 143-year history. 
   Her commitment and leadership helped solidly secure Baer Cattle Company’s place among the oldest, continuous cattle operations within the State of Texas.

Anita Marie Rucker Bell: June 13, 1930 - July 5, 2016

Anita Marie Rucker Bell, 86, of Bay City passed away July 5, 2016.  
   She was born on Friday the 13th on June 13, 1930 in Waco, Texas to the late William Casseday Rucker and Gladys Anita Hardy Rucker.
   Anita was also known as “Skeets” to many of her friends and family. 
   She had a zeal for life and learning that was infectious. She was a devoted wife, a mother, a grandmother, a teacher, a cook, an artist, a pilot and a friend. 
   On June 19, 1949, at the tender age of 19, she married the love of her life. They were married for 67 wonderful years.

John Louis ‘Hoody’ Estlinbaum

   John Louis “Hoody” Estlinbaum, 77, of Bay City passed away on July 1, 2016. 
      He was born on December 26, 1938, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Clyde and Maggie Estlinbaum and lived his entire life in Matagorda County. 
   Hoody farmed rice and row crop in Matagorda and Wharton Counties for 42 years before retiring after the 2000 harvest. 
   After working briefly for the Texas Department of Agriculture, he fully retired and became a full-time husband and grandfather. 
   Hoody was married for 50 years to the love of his life, Shelby Williamson Estlinbaum, until she passed away on May 22, 2010. 
   Together, they raised two sons: Craig Estlinbaum and his wife, Julie; and Mike Estlinbaum and his wife, Jessica. Hoody is also survived by three grandchildren, Drew Estlinbaum and his wife, Kaleigh; Matt Estlinbaum and Shelby Estlinbaum.
