Blackcats. That’s the official mascot of Bay City High School, but when it comes to boys basketball, you can also call them “The Killer Bees.”
That’s a description Bay City boys basketball head coach David Shepherd used while talking about recent District 27-4A triumphs against Brookshire Royal (55-27 on Jan. 27) and Sealy (56-19 on Jan. 30).
“In both games we came closer to playing our defensive style the way we project it, and that was a major factor in our success,” Shepherd said.
“The ‘Killer Bees’ is a small lineup we sometimes have on the floor, and that group is very difficult to score against because they are so quick and play with great effort (Bay City seniors Shamar Robinson,Treyson Wilson and Stephon Williams, plus junior Archelous Gaskin) make it very difficult for the opponent to get good looks at the basket.”
