‘Self- Image’

I saw a photo recently of a magnificent bridge and its perfectly mirrored reflection in the water below.    It was an uncanny sight to behold - one image constructed in form, whereas the other reflection only an illusion.    Simply put, the bridge’s form and reflection were identical.

"Those missing in Hill Country floods reduced to 3" by: Mike Reddell

News broke this weekend that the number of people missing from Hill Country floods is down to three and officials say that many had been found safe.   While that’s comforting – and it surely is – the most recent death toll is now 135 statewide.

"Struggling with understanding the hype around Labubus" by: Jessica Shepard

You know that something is about to become a pop culture icon when NPR actually covers said object’s meteoric rise seemingly from nowhere.   I mean, I’ve lived through the Cabbage Patch, Beanie Baby, Funko Pop, Pokémon trading cards, and American Girl doll crazes already.

"The more we worry about the economy, the better it gets " by: John Sample

"Sea Grant, part of NOAA, now threatened with termination" by: Mike Reddell

As the Trump Administration guts weather science and reduces disaster response with significant cuts to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) funding, the National Sea Grant College Program could be eliminated.   Sea Grant is part of NOAA.

"Tourism deserves more respect, support" by: Jessica Shepard

I have covered Bay City’s tourism board since we started this newspaper in 2014 – back when it was called the Convention and Visitors Bureau and was under the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture.

"Last week taught me anything can jump up and bite you" by: John Sample

Well, I have made it through the last week without giving up.    I feel the same way about this market.       We are close to record highs on the indexes and averages even after the first down week in a month.
