BCPD wants Bay City to be safe this July 4th

    The Bay City Police Department (BCPD) urges all residents to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary responsibly and safely on Saturday, July 4, 2026.  Several community events are scheduled throughout the day, including the Bay City Freedom Fireworks 2026 at LeTulle Park from 6 to 10 p.m.

   Commissioners Court heard complaints from Donna Howard on why doesn’t the county post meeting agendas and documents for review at the court’s regular meeting Monday, June 25.  “Other counties do that,” Howard said.  Howard made her remarks at the court’s public comments section of the meeting.

"Main Street gives approval for grant" by: Jessica Shepard

   Main Street board members unanimously approved a $3,664 façade grant application during their meeting last week.  Board members Kristi Lee, Carol Huitt, Alice Lowery, Matthew Morales, and Fran Baker were present, while Karen Stephens, Henry Perez, Cory McCray, and Kaci Waller were absent.

"Council OKs vote canvass, Aquatics loan" by: Mike Reddell

   City Council canvassed the Place 1 runoff election vote June 13 and approved a four-step process for a $14 million loan for the Aquatics Center at council’s June 18 special called meeting.  Cory McCray won the runoff election by a 217-159 vote margin over Stacy L. Rowh.
