   Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Executive Director Mike Ferdinand addressed over 100 business professionals last week.  Ferdinand was the featured speaker at the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s luncheon on July 9.
The Bay City Police Department recently visited YMCA kids. The kids learned about safety, meeting the officers, and receiving safety coloring books. BCPD officials thanked  YMCA for the invited to talk to youngsters. “Thank you for the invitation and opportunity to engage with and speak into the lives of our local youth, and for honorable recognition that "not all heroes wear capes."    Bravo & Co Youth Theater celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting Monday afternoon.  Located at 1000 Avenue F, the theater has highlighted its students at several local events, including The Crisis Center’s “6th Annual Light Up the Square” April event.

"Deputies called on Matagorda man’s death" by: Mike Reddell

   Matagorda County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the death of a Matagorda man last weekend.  Sheriff’s Captain Chris Hadash said the death was initially called in as a welfare concern.  The 59-year-old Lin Scholten, lived in an RV at 467 Peach Street, Hadash said.

   Lynn Engineering hosted an informational luncheon on how not to fail a windstorm inspection last week.  Roughly two dozen attendees heard windstorm inspection tips from Lynn Engineering Structural Professional Engineer Diego Andrade and Lead Inspector Rondie Singletary on July 1.
