Early voting under way for Council runoff

   Monday, June 1 was the start of early voting in the June 13 Runoff Election between Cory McCray and Stacy L. Rowh for Place 1 on City Council.  The May 2 election ended with an eight-vote difference between Cory McCray who received 239 votes for 44.67%, and Stacy L. Rowh with 231 votes, 43.18%.

"Main Street board OKs 2 façade grants" by: Jessica Shepard

   Main Street board members unanimously approved two façade grant applications last week.  Karen Stephens was the only member absent from the May 27 meeting.  A $337 façade grant application for The Collective salon was approved for mural signage.

"County follows state trends" by: Mike Reddell

   In the top state runoff races Tuesday, Matagorda County voters followed Texas trends – but the percentages for the statewide and county results in each race differed.  Tuesday, unofficial Matagorda County results showed 2,529 registered-voter ballots cast, or 11.

Courtroom closed for repairs

   Matagorda County issued a June 1 update on the continued temporary closure of the 130th District Courtroom in the County Courthouse.   The closure has allowed for HVAC repairs, environmental mitigation, and restoration work necessary to maintain a safe and functional facility.
