   Parks and Recreation Manager Kelly Penewitt led her board through its first meeting of 2026.  Members present include Jordan Piwonka, Denise Fortenberry, Chad Hartman, and Arnulfo Hinojosa, and those absent were Mike Griffith and Israel Ochoa.

County vote totals closely followed state election trends

   In the March 3 Primary election results, the Bay City Sentinel is showing results in races that were opposed in Matagorda County or included local residents.   The primary election – for both parties – had 5,253 Matagorda County voters casting ballots out of 22.092 registered voters for a 23.
