A total of 1,034 voters cast ballots in those election out of 15,346 registered voters. The joint elections for Bay City and Palacios city and school races plus Caney Creek MUD Saturday, May 2, drew a quite low turnout. Bay City ISD Incumbent trustee Place 4 Priscilla Robinson was unopposed.

Matagorda County officials controlled a hazardous materials incident east of Texas 60 at Sims Lane, about six miles south of Bay City last Friday. The chemical leak was quickly identified and remedial measures were taken immediately.
