   Blackcat wide receiver Xylan Williams outran defenders for a 76-yard touchdown pass play, but it was the only score that Bay City had in a hard 35-7 loss to Edna at Memorial Stadium Friday night, Sept. 6.

   Van Vleck produced a convincing win over rival Sweeny with a 43 to 30 victory last Friday that included Lep running back Corey Austin’s 202 yards rushing.    On 13 carries, Austin also had a 71-yard run and scored two touchdowns.    He had a team-high 40 receiving yards and a TD.

   Tidehaven fell to Goliad 20-24 last week – despite having more total yardage - and looks to rebound against Hallettsville this Friday.    Tidehaven running back Jacob Martinez had 125 yards rushing on 23 carries and a touchdown.

BCHS XC competes at Sweeny

   BCHS Cross Country competed in its 4th meet of the year at Sweeny High School last week.  “We had lots of personal  bests for the 2024 season today,” said Head Cross Country Coach Rilea Sanders.

   Bay City senior wide receiver Xylan Williams had 219 total yards to help the Blackcats post a 62-24 shellacking of Sweeny to open the 2024 season there last Friday, Aug. 30.

"Tidehaven too much for Sharks in 41-13 victory" by: Mike Reddell

   Tidehaven launched its 2024 football season with a 41-13 trouncing of longtime opponent Palacios there last Friday, Aug. 30.  “It was a good win. Too many penalties and too many points left on the field for me to be totally happy,” said Tidehaven Tiger Head Coach David Lucio.

"Van Vleck drops close one after 2nd half comeback" by: Mike Reddell

   Van Vleck dropped a close, 5-point 33-26 game against Ganado last week, despite a 254-yard rushing performance from Corey Austin.  Austin had three touchdowns against Ganado, including a 71-yard scoring romp.  Van Vleck’s Steve Moore ran for 74 yards, with one run for 65 yards, and a touchdown.

Work included cleaning up the track, adding additional dirt on the hills and other sprucing up.
