   The Bay City Blackcats ended their 2023 season with an area playoff round loss to the Kilgore Bulldogs 37-28 at Sheldon ISD Stadium Friday, Nov. 17.    The game capped the Blackcats’ 8-4, 4-2 record this year – a second-place finish in District 12-4A-1 and another trip to the playoffs.

    The 2023 Tidehaven Tigers are entering the regionals stage of the state football playoffs. Tidehaven carries a pristine 11-0, 6-0 record.    What that impressive record doesn’t show is the Tigers’ incredible string of eight shutouts.
VVISD photo The Van Vleck Swim Team competed at the Victoria Invitational Nov. 11. Nicole R secured a Gold medal in the 100 yard breaststroke. Nicole and Curtis G. won bronze in 200 yard individual medley (IM). Grace G. won bronze for her race in the 100 yard butterfly. Girls 400 free relay worked hard for the silver medal. All of those top 3 finishes were accompanied by many other 4-8 finishes.

   Tidehaven demolished Buffalo 63-6 in the bi-district round of the playoffs last week and will face the Dilley Wolves in the area round Friday, Nov. 17.    The area playoff will kick off at 7 p.m. at Tuloso-Midway Stadium and Tidehaven will be the home team.

   The Van Vleck Leopards faced off against the Rogers Eagles in round one of the state playoffs for the second year in a row.        Unfortunately, the result was the same as Rogers dominated on both sides of the ball for a convincing 42-15 win.

   The JV Tigers closed out the season with a 28-7 loss to Van Vleck.     Scoring our lone td was Ashton Klaiber with a 10 yd run.      Paco Lara drilled the extra point.      The defense was led by Caiden Glaze, Donovan Austin and Mathew Riddick.      We finished with a 6-3-1 record on the season.
