"Tourism council OKs 6 sponsorship applications" by: Jessica Shepard

   Tourism Advisory Council members unanimously approved six event sponsorship applications at their regular meeting last week.  Members present included Amy Nowlin, Brad Freeman, Shelby Wild, and Natasha Moreno, while Chrystal Folse, Liza Lara, and Kaci Wells were absent.

"Ferdinand: Businesses drive countywide growth" by: Jessica Shepard

   Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Executive Director Mike Ferdinand addressed over 100 business professionals last week.  Ferdinand was the featured speaker at the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s luncheon on July 9.
The Bay City Police Department recently visited YMCA kids. The kids learned about safety, meeting the officers, and receiving safety coloring books. BCPD officials thanked  YMCA for the invited to talk to youngsters. “Thank you for the invitation and opportunity to engage with and speak into the lives of our local youth, and for honorable recognition that "not all heroes wear capes."
