TPWD to open oyster harvest area in Matagorda Bay

    AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is opening TX-14 in Matagorda Bay to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 9.  Based on samples recently collected by TPWD, TX-14 meets criteria for reopening.
Sargent Constable Precinct 6 Bill Orton commented on a recent Facebook post that he and Chief Wesselski thought “it was beginning to look like shark week on Sargent Beach” recently. “Chief Wesselski and I met this young man and his grandfather fishing the surf.
