Rack Room Shoes invited Tenie Holmes Elementary School to join their Shoes That Fit program this school year. This program partners local Rack Room stores with local schools to provide brand-new shoes to students in need. The Bay City store will fundraise throughout the year, and those donations will be turned into gift cards that allow our campus staff to select shoes for students who need them most. Former Bay City resident shares Dentist of the Year honor with longtime friend

   Dr. Partha Mukherji, clinical assistant professor in comprehensive dentistry at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas, teaches dental students treatment fundamentals.   Mukherji grew up in Bay City and completed his residency in 2002 at what’s now known as UTHealth Houston.

The Matagorda County Mad Island Marsh CBC is unofficially reporting 238 individual species with several rare birds needing verification before becoming official sometime next year.

   Have you ever seen a Snail Kite?  Chances are you probably haven’t because this bird is officially new to the annual Matagorda County-Mad Island Marsh Christmas Bird Count (CBC) for 2025.

City, ISD, County positions are open

    Matagorda County election season has begun with candidates filing for school, city council, county and precinct positions.   Other municipal and school district races open for filings starting on Wednesday, Jan. 14.  Bay City city council positions 1 and 2 are up for election.
