Bay City Main Street: Accredited Main Street America program

The Bay City Main Street Program was recognized as an Accredited Main Street America program for 2026.
Main Street America accreditation is the highest level of recognition awarded to Main Street programs nationwide and is presented only to communities demonstrating exceptional commitment to the Main Street Four Point Approach: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality.
The 2026 accreditation follows a transformative year for Downtown Bay City marked by strategic redevelopment efforts, community collaboration, and continued investment in the historic district.
In 2025 alone, Downtown Bay City saw more than $1.85 million in public-private partnership investments, over $1.6 million in downtown property sales, the addition of four new businesses, and more than 1,300 volunteer hours dedicated to revitalization efforts.
Major accomplishments contributing to the program’s reaccreditation included:
  • Finalization and approval of the Texas Theater redevelopment agreement
  • Expansion of the Downtown Façade Grant Program match from $5,000 to $10,000
  • Implementation of a new Certificate of Appropriateness and predevelopment review process
  • Downtown beautification and reinvestment projects funded through community partnerships and event revenue
  • Continued marketing and tourism promotion efforts highlighting Downtown Bay City statewide and beyond
“This accreditation reflects the hard work, dedication, and collaboration between our volunteers, business owners, property owners, city leadership, board members, and community partners,” said Tina Israel, Main Street Program Manager.
“Downtown Bay City continues building momentum, and this recognition validates the progress our community is making together.”
