Townsend shows council new Aquatics Center presentation

   The Aquatics Center is going forward, Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) Executive Director Melanie Townsend told council at its workshop meeting last week. 
  Funding partners for building the center are the City of Bay City, BCCDC, Matagorda County, and YMCA of the Golden Crescent. 
  Townsend made a PowerPoint presentation about The Aquatics Center of Matagorda County to council entitled Splash into Fun. 
  Townsend noted the center will feature: 
  • Indoor Heated Competition Pool - 8 lanes, UIL-certified, with roll-up doors for ventilation and energy efficiency.  
  Year-round use for swim lessons, competitive leagues, and public recreation. 
  • Outdoor Water Park – Walk in Pool, Water Slides, Splash Pad, Party 
  Room and family-friendly recreational areas. 
  • YMCA Facilities - Child and adult education spaces, and additional programming support. 
  • Accessibility - Centrally located for residents, schools, first responders, and regional visitors within an 80+ mile radius 
  The Aquatics Center will be located behind the Convention Center on the West Side of Bay City across from Matagorda Regional Medical Center and Bay City High School.
