"Bay City, Palacios rebates up from 2023" by: Mike Reddell

   Bay City and Palacios both saw their June sales tax allocations increase over the same month last year.   Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for June, 6.8% more than in June 2023.

   Over 40 farmers and ranchers attended the Matagorda County Soil & Water Conservation District’s (SWCD) workshop last week.  Several guest speakers covered a variety of topics, including everything from spray drift management to watershed updates and livestock disease and pests.

   A proposed stormwater committee was discussed by the Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation board of directors at its meeting Friday, June 7.  The committee would be a countywide effort, MCEDC Executive Director Mike Ferdinand said.
