Presidents Day closings

   Observance of President’s Day falls on Monday, Feb. 19 this year.  Van Vleck and Bay City ISD campuses will be closed to students Monday.  Students of both districts will return to regular hours on Tuesday, Feb. 20.  Tidehaven ISD students will have class at regular hours Monday.

Texas 35 closing dates confirmed

   The dates for the permanent railway replacement on Texas 35 near McDonald’s have been confirmed.  The replacement will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, and is scheduled to end by 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19.

"TIRZ board sends downtown parks concepts to City Council" by: Jessica Shepard

   Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) 1 and 2 board members reviewed conceptual designs for “Cottonwood Park” and “Barkway Park” during their regular meeting last week.  Both parks would be located just north of downtown on city-owned property and provide a variety of amenities.

BCPD promotes Chavez to patrol sergeant

   Police Officer Marino Chavez was promoted to patrol sergeant at Bay City Police Department’s promotion ceremony, with Police Chief Christella Rodriguez officiating last Wednesday.  City staff, co-workers from the police department, and family and friends were present to witness the occasion.

Robbery suspect captured Monday

   Following a Bay City PD request for information on a robbery suspect press release on Facebook, the suspect was captured on foot Monday afternoon.     Patrol Officers located Joshua James Brannan, 20, at around 1:23 p.m. in the 1000 block of Shellfish in Bay City.
