   Over two dozen people attended the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s “Ag Producers Breakfast” last week.    The guest speaker was Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Harris County Horticulture Program Specialist Paul Winski.

Food Handlers course set March 14

   All food employees are required to complete an accredited food handlers training program within 60 days of employment.    A food handlers course accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Matagorda County.

2 wounded after bar argument

   Two people were wounded when a dispute ended in gunfire at a Bay City sports bar early Friday morning, Feb. 24, police said.    Officers were dispatched to Matagorda Regional Medical Center emergency room 2:06 a.m. Feb. 24, in reference to an assault.

Deputies: Cause of fire that destroyed RVs unknown

   Two recreational vehicles were destroyed by fire in Sargent Feb. 18, the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office reported.    Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Sargent Fire Department were sent to 665 CR 201, Sargent, to a reported structure fire at about 1:50 a.m. Feb. 18.

   Kenzie Brown was crowned the 2023 Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association’s 2023 Rodeo Queen last Saturday, Feb. 18.    The Rodeo Queen competition featured a pleasure pattern, individual questions, and riding with flags early that morning.
