"Big Hill TCEQ air permits pending" by: Jessica Shepard

   While the public notice comment period for Big Hill Energy, LLC’s TCEQ air permits had officially ended in March, the prospective power plant is still generating buzz on social media.  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) website shows the comment period was from Feb.

WCJC Foundation welcomes Development Coordinator

   The Wharton County Junior College Foundation welcomes Lesley Blanks as the WCJC Foundation Development Coordinator. Blanks joined the Foundation team in January and brings more than 20 years of teaching experience in education, along with a deep connection to the college.

"Burn Ban back on after drought index goes over 500" by: Mike Reddell

   Precinct 4 Commissioner Bubba Frick announced Matagorda County was again under a burn ban, as of Monday morning.  Frick told the Commissioners Court meeting that the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) was more than 500, which is the trigger for a burn ban because of the high wildfire risk.
