This year’s Rice Festival event hosted a variety of new features and returning favorites. The 75th Annual Bay City Lions Club Rice Festival was pared down last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned earlier this month with a fully stocked schedule.

Hurricane Nicholas made landfall just after midnight Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Matagorda Peninsula – about 10 miles West of Sargent. Nicholas was at a Category 1 hurricane strength after bumping off the coast and returning before landfall at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
