   Van Vleck ISD trustees approved an $8,000 bid to lay sod at the softball field during their meeting Monday night.  All board members were present for the meeting.

   Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution in support of a feasibility study for a possible future truck route that directs heavy trucks around Bay City at their Monday meeting.  All commissioners were present for the meeting.

   Visit Bay City’s “Matagorda County ArtWalks: Summer Blues” takes over the Bay City Civic Center this Saturday, Aug. 23.  The free indoor event is from 2-6 p.m. and features live music by Man of Sky and various art demonstrations.

   Port of Bay City Authority commissioners heard updates on the West Basin Bulkhead and Matagorda Harbor Improvement projects at their meeting last Thursday.  Buddy Treybig was the only absent commissioner.

   City Council unanimously approved a resolution in support of a feasibility study for a possible future truck route that directs heavy trucks around the city at their special-called meeting last Tuesday.  All council members were present for the Aug. 12 meeting.

"Tourism council reviews proposed 2025-2026 budget" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) reviewed the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget during their meeting Monday afternoon.  “I want to apologize for not having the proposed budget on our agenda at our July meeting,” said Bay City Communications and Cultural Arts Director Samantha Denbow.

"County proposes 2025 tax rate for Aug. 25 hearing" by: Mike Reddell

   Matagorda County Commissioners Court took action on the proposed 2025 total tax rate of .3365 per $100 valuation at the court’s regular meeting Monday, Aug. 11.    County Judge Bobby Seiferman noted the levy is about a penny over the 2024 rate.
