   BCHS Cross Country competed in its 4th meet of the year at Sweeny High School last week.  “We had lots of personal  bests for the 2024 season today,” said Head Cross Country Coach Rilea Sanders.

   Bay City senior running back Jada Andrews’ 176 yards of rushing help sparked a Blackcat 28-14 thumping of the West Columbia Roughnecks there last Friday, Sept. 13.

   Tidehaven quarterback Kale Russell put together passing and running games to lead the Tigers to a 29-19 defeat of Hallettsville last Friday.  Russell was 11 of 15 for 113 yards passing, with an interception.  Russell also had a team-high 68 yards rushing on nine carries and a touchdown.

   The Van Vleck Leopards fell to the Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) Warriors 45 to 35 in a non-district game at Van Vleck’s homecoming Friday, Sept. 13.

   Van Vleck produced a convincing win over rival Sweeny with a 43 to 30 victory last Friday that included Lep running back Corey Austin’s 202 yards rushing.    On 13 carries, Austin also had a 71-yard run and scored two touchdowns.    He had a team-high 40 receiving yards and a TD.

   Tidehaven fell to Goliad 20-24 last week – despite having more total yardage - and looks to rebound against Hallettsville this Friday.    Tidehaven running back Jacob Martinez had 125 yards rushing on 23 carries and a touchdown.
