Van Vleck Lady Leps begin season with win over Tidehaven

   The Van Vleck Lady Leopard Softball team kicked off the 2024 season last week with a 3-1-1 record.  The Lady Leps lost a tough one Tuesday night to rival Tidehaven by a score 6-5 in extra innings.

   On Tuesday we lost to Refugio 6-5. Camden Johnson got the start on the mound and threw 5 innings striking out 4 giving up 5 hits 2 runs, 1 of them earned.     Ricky Rubio came on in relief and took the loss.  He struck out 6, and gave up 4 unearned runs in the bottom of the 7th.

   Neither Cuero nor Bay City was especially pleased with what transpired Friday night at the Columbus gym.  But the Lady Gobblers departed in a much better mood, after capturing a 48-31 Class 4A area win over the Ladycats.

  At the UIL 4A State Swimming & Diving Championships:Lucie Frick (12) finished 15th in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.20.  Ian Ramos (10) placed 9th in 1m diving with a score of 210.15.
