  I never liked mission statements.      This is why our church and my nonprofit ministry, Courage with Grace, has never had one.      I never liked them because they were too generic and made me want to yawn.

   I have to confess that I had no idea who Sebastian Maniscalco was before I saw “About My Father” over the weekend.     Honestly, I probably had him confused with about seven other stand-up comedians I’ve seen in Netflix or Comedy Central specials and snippets.

   Hurricane season starts next Thursday and I don’t know if we’re quite ready for it this year.    Sure, the last few weeks have been packed with rain and it’s all but dried up now.    That doesn’t mean we’re exactly out of the woods for the incoming months either.

   Well, here we are waiting for some resolution to the debt ceiling negotiations between Congress and the Administration.    It would seem much to do about nothing.

PSA: Are your goals ‘must have’ or ‘nice to have’?

   You may have many financial goals.    But are they all equally important?    Probably not.    And that’s why it’s a good idea to identify goals as “must-have” versus “nice to have.

   Look, the “Fast & Furious’ franchise is spanning over 20 years in Hollywood and has cemented itself as a pop-culture icon in its own way.

   I covered the Bay City Big Oak Challenge at LeTulle Park Saturday, May 13.    This is the first disc golf challenge in Bay City and most of the 71 players were from out of town.    While in years past, throwing a Frisbee was something I loved to do, by myself, with another person or with a dog.

   Anyone and everyone have that one friend or family member that seems to have a pile of completely random information that they’re known for recounting at the drop of a hat.

   In case you weren’t watching, we have been down for a couple of weeks and it really didn’t amount to much with the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock-index holding above 4100.      Attention currently is on what the Administration and Congress will do with the debt ceiling.
