"Tourism board hears DOD Festival update" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City Library and Cultural Arts Manager Amanda Garcia presented an update on the upcoming 7th Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival (DOD) to the Tourism Advisory Council on Monday afternoon.  This year’s festival is slated for Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1.
Bay City Parks & Recreation Department Bay City Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Public Works Department, will host the 6th Annual Touch-A-Truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Sports Complex, 2414 FM 3156.

   This year, the deadline for the annual Rice Festival Queen’s Pageant entries is Wednesday, Sept. 24.  The application information can be found in the 2025 Pageant Application Packet on the Lions Club website at https://baycitytxlionsclub.org/queen-pageant-form.

   Off-duty Bay City Police Officer Cody Janssen was headed home after a 12-hour shift when he saw a man dragging an air conditioning unit through a parking lot of an abandoned business early Wednesday, Aug. 27.
