MCFLA ‘Ruby Red Rodeo’ to celabrate 80 years

    The Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association (MCFLA) is celebrating 80 years of livestock shows, entertainment, rodeos, and scholarships in service to the Matagorda community with its “Ruby Red Rodeo” theme.    The celebration will begin with the Halter Heifer/Longhorn Show starting at 9 a.

Robbery suspect captured Monday

   Following a Bay City PD request for information on a robbery suspect press release on Facebook, the suspect was captured on foot Monday afternoon.     Patrol Officers located Joshua James Brannan, 20, at around 1:23 p.m. in the 1000 block of Shellfish in Bay City.

   Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) board members unanimously approved five façade grants and one website grant for several local businesses at its monthly meeting Monday afternoon.

   Commissioners unanimously show their support for County Attorney Jennifer Chau’s $175,000 “Rural Prosecutor’s Office Salary Assistance Grant Program” application during their regular meeting Monday morning.    All commissioners were present for the meeting.

   Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Mike Ferdinand discussed the latest drainage study update with his board last week.    “Our drainage talks with the engineers are progressing well,” he said.
