     January 18    At 1:21 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Avenue F about shots fired.    Dispatch notified officers that they had received multiple calls for shots fired but had limited information and no descriptions.

   The 8th Annual Wild Game and Wine Camofest returns to downtown Bay City this Saturday, Jan. 27.    Scheduled from noon until 6 p.m., the rain-or-shine event is open to the public.    “Rain, Sleet, or Snow wear your camo!” said Main Street Program Director Tina Israel.

Ganado man dies in wreck near Markham

    A 23-year-old Ganado man was killed in a two-car collision at the intersection of Texas 35 and FM 1468 at Markham early Monday morning, Jan. 22, DPS Sgt. Stephen Woodard said.

Chamber honors late Willie Rollins, Chrystal Folse

   The 2023 Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Man of the Year is the late Willie Rollins.    Relay for Life Matagorda County chair Chrystal Folse is the 2023 Woman of the Year.    Rollins and Folse were honored at the annual chamber banquet Thursday night, Jan.

"Sales tax rebates up for Bay City" by: Mike Reddell

   January sales tax rebates for Bay City and Palacios are both up from the same month last year.    Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for January, 3.3 percent more than in January 2023.
