Correcting line of information claiming Sargent Beach closed

   We need your help in correcting a line of misinformation.  It seems the US Corps of Engineers released a press release that didn’t fully cover the situation along the Gulf Coast.  The press release dated Nov 5, 2024, claimed Sargent beach was closed.

   Tidehaven ISD trustees unanimously approved a $1,500 retention stipend for all current employees on December’s payroll during their meeting Monday night.  All school board members were present.  “We are extremely blessed in our district,” said Tidehaven ISD Superintendent Dr. Patrick Talbert.

BCPD arrests woman for capital murder

   Bay City arrested a 22-year-old woman on the charge of capital murder after she was transferred from Florida early last week, officers said.  Kalen Fortuna was arrested and booked for capital murder at the Matagorda County Jail Monday, Nov. 4, reports show.

   Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar gave a brief overview of what he foresees coming from the 2025 legislative session during the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s luncheon last week.  “We’re looking at somewhere around a $20 billion surplus in the next legislative session,” he said.

Estlinbaum: Corps doesn’t care about Sargent Beach Road

   In a separate Facebook post last week, Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum noted that he and County Judge Bobby Seiferman “met with the USACE last week and they are not doing anything with the road.  “They made it clear once again that they don’t care about the road or anyone that needs it.
