"LEPC hears updates on debris pickup" by: Mike Reddell

   Emergency Management Coordinator Amanda Campos reported on the Hurricane Beryl debris collection status at the Quarterly Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting July 31.  Campos noted that all but about 50 Matagorda County residences have power restored due to losses.

   Time’s running out to get your tickets to see the Community Actors of South Texas (CAST) production of “Little Shop of Horrors” this week.  At press time Monday morning, Saturday seats have already sold out and there is a limited number for the 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday shows Aug. 8-9.

"BCCDC board OKs new business retention employee position" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) board members unanimously approved creating a “Business Retention and Expansion Specialist” role for the BCCDC office during their regular meeting Monday afternoon.  All voting board members were present for the meeting except Ben Flores.

   The City of Bay City announced the creation of a new Communications and Marketing Department last week.  This strategic move is designed to strengthen the city’s outreach efforts, improve transparency, and enhance the effectiveness of communication between the municipality and its residents.

"Main Street Program to fully return to the city " by: Jessica Shepard

   City Council unanimously voted against renewing the Main Street Program management contract with Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) after a brief executive session on July 23.  The contract will conclude Monday, Sept. 30, and means the Main Street program will return to the city.
