STP declares ‘unusual event’ July 24

   Officials at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station declared an Unusual Event in Unit 1 at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, due to a loss of offsite power that caused the Unit 1 reactor to trip offline.

   Bay City Police Chief Christella Rodriguez told City Council last week that she couldn’t say enough about superior training and the goal Bay City Police Department sets for improving itself.  Rodriguez led Council through BCPD’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan at the July 23 council meeting.

   Countywide 4-H awards were handed out to children and adults during the annual “4-H Awards Celebration” Thursday, July 18.  This year featured $9,000 total in scholarships awarded to 4-H members Leeland Chandler, Madison Harris, Dylan Henry, Landen Hurley, Lavery Riccio, and Slade Saha.
