City to monitor GFL brush pickup concerns

   The brush pick up issue was a topic of discussion with GFL and Council at last week’s meeting.   The City staff will be monitoring this concern, said Interim City Manager Scotty Jones.

   Commissioners Court was crowded Monday morning as people were eager to know what an agenda item for certificates of obligation (CO) would mean for their community.   The answer came later in the day as the court issued $7.49 million in certificates of obligation with an interest rate of 3.

   EDTIOR’S NOTE: Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum recently posted this information about Revetment Road near Sargent.  I’m sure you are all aware by now that Revetment Rd is destroyed. We have worked constantly patching it to keep it passable until we could get a beach to protect it.

Fire destroys vacant house

   Fire destroyed a vacant house at  155 Janice at about 5:25 p.m. Sunday, June 23.  The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, and the Fire Marshal responded and the fire department identified heavy fire involvement.
