"City Council wants GFL to improve" by: Mike Reddell

   City Council gave waste collector GFL two distinct messages last week.  One, council likes its relationship with GFL and wants to maintain it.  Two, council chided GFL for numerous complaints from Bay City residents about recent brush pickups.

Local closures for 4th of July

   Independence Day falls on Thursday, July 4, this year.  Local closures include the Bay City Public Library, and city and county offices.  Bay City Parks and Recreation Department’s annual “Freedom Fireworks” will be 6-9:30 p.m.

Van Vleck ISD announces 2 top administrators

   Van Vleck ISD recently announced that Matt Steiner was recently approved to be named VVISD Assistant Superintendent and Shannon Garcia will be the new Van Vleck High School Principal.   Steiner obtained his Superintendent’s certification earlier this year.

Corps orders county officials to close Revetment Road

   Matagorda County officials have been instructed to immediately close West Revetment Road by the United States Corp of Engineers.   This road is along the revetment wall and is west of FM 457, in Sargent.  An inspection of the road was recently completed because of Tropical Storm Alberto.
