"Barrio Energy data centers face criticism" by: Jessica Shepard

   Following a Feb. 16  Boling community town hall about a proposed Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center, Houston-based Barrio Energy’s in-progress “Blackcat” data center is again facing scrutiny on and off social media.  Blackcat will be located on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"2026 MCFLA Home Ec winners recognized" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Association’s Home Economics Food Show auction raised about $16,175 before add-ons for local students, Saturday, Feb. 28.  That number is a decrease of roughly $525 from last year’s $16,700.

"Final events of MCFLA fair week" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association’s (MCFLA) “Annual Fair & Rodeo” has its closeout events this week.  Kicking off with the MCFLA swine show at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 5, in the outdoor arena.  Senior Citizen Day is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall, 3070 Hamman Road.
