   If you’re looking to do more than shop this Thanksgiving weekend, look no further than the following events.    Start your holiday season off with the annual “Matagorda 5K Turkey Trot” at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 8, at Matagorda Beach in Matagorda.

   Bay City Fire Marshal Dan Shook investigated two house fires in Bay City last Wednesday, Nov. 15.    “With the holidays and cooler weather fast approaching, it is important to remember fire safety,” Shook added.    “Extension cords are to be used for temporary conditions only.

Bay City responds to 2 house fires in 1day

   Bay City Volunteer Fire Department (BCVFD), the Bay City Fire Marshal, and the Bay City Police Department (BCPD) were sent to a house on fire at 4 Shadow Lane shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15.     A local resident notified the 9-1-1 dispatcher of heavy grey smoke coming from the home.
