Matagorda County Retired Teachers Association (MCRTA) members clean gently used books and organize them along with the new books to be given to children in Matagorda County. Membership dues and donations pay for the cost of the books. The books are distributed to MRMC for newborns, to doctor’s offices, and at children’s events.    Early voting for the 2026 Primary Election got underway Tuesday, Feb. 17.  Another upcoming election date is Friday, Feb. 20 - last day counties can receive mail-in requests.  The Primary Election will be Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

   Over 100 people attended Matagorda Regional Medical Center’s (MRMC) “Be Heart Smart Luncheon” featuring guest speaker Dr. George Hanna last week.  “Dr. Hanna has been a part of MRMC and our community since 2000,” said MRMC Foundation Executive Director Tiffany Foltyn as she introduced Hanna.
