   Commissioners Court was crowded Monday morning as people were eager to know what an agenda item for certificates of obligation (CO) would mean for their community.   The answer came later in the day as the court issued $7.49 million in certificates of obligation with an interest rate of 3.

   Tourism Advisory Council board members heard from Bay City Tourism Manager Darve Smith about three possible murals during their regular meeting Monday.  The murals are part of the department’s “Wings of Matagorda County” art project.

   City Council’s budget workshop last week focused on five-year capital spending – public works, the airport and parks and recreation.   “We’re trying to hone in on what council wants,” Interim City Manager Scotty Jones said at the early point of the discussion.

   EDTIOR’S NOTE: Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum recently posted this information about Revetment Road near Sargent.  I’m sure you are all aware by now that Revetment Rd is destroyed. We have worked constantly patching it to keep it passable until we could get a beach to protect it.

Fire destroys vacant house

   Fire destroyed a vacant house at  155 Janice at about 5:25 p.m. Sunday, June 23.  The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, and the Fire Marshal responded and the fire department identified heavy fire involvement.

Bay City VFD:  On June 5, at 7:45 a.m., responded to assist Van Vleck Volunteer Fire Department but was cancelled in route.   On June 5, at 1:49 p.m., responded to a wash down at the 2900 block of FM 2540.   On June 7, at 12:49 p.m., responded to a grass fire on Hwy 60 North.
