   Around 40 people showed up to Van Vleck ISD’s first “Community Outreach” meeting discussing the fate of three older buildings left in the district Monday night.    Those buildings discussed were the O.H. Herman Middle School campus, E. Rudd Intermediate campus, and the old field house.

   About 60 people attended the Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture and Matagorda County Cattlemen’s Association’s “Ag Producer’s Breakfast” last Friday to hear the latest on Waters of the United States (WOTUS).

Report: Sargent breakwater bids have gone out

   Bids have gone out for the Sargent Beach Breakwater and Jetty project that’s aimed at restoring the beach sand and preventing erosion.    Rhonda Gregg-Hirsh/ Project Director with Atkins has said that the Breakwater Project in Sargent has gone out for bid.

   Millions of dollars in infrastructure projects across Matagorda Country were highlighted in a GrantWorks presentation at Commissioners Court Monday, Sept. 18.    In addition, the court presented the Distinguished Service Award for 2022 to the Matagorda County Historical Commission (MCHC).

   The Port of Bay City Authority unanimously approved a ground lease agreement with PCC Chemicals for property at the Port of Bay City at the authority’s meeting Thursday, Sept. 14.    “We have been working on this for two years,” said Port Authority Chairman George Harrison.
