Labor Day closings 

   Labor Day celebrations and closures fall on Monday, Sept. 4 this year.    All federal, county, and city offices will be closed for Labor Day.    The United States Postal Service and banking institutions will also be closed Monday.

   Countywide law enforcement personnel received recognition and awards at the return of the Matagorda County 100 Club “43rd Annual Law Enforcement Awards Dinner” last week.

   Bay City began the 2023 football campaign with a decisive 40-27 win over Sweeny Friday, Aug. 25, at Memorial Stadium.    The Blackcats shook off a rough first half – Bay City trailed 14-10 at half - and came out firing in the second half.
