"City, County to partner on 12th St. repair" by: Mike Reddell

City Council unanimously approved an agreement with Matagorda County to share labor and material costs to repair 12th Street from Texas 35 to Moore Street in Bay City, at council’s regular meeting July 25.    “They wanted to get started on it,” said City Manager Shawna Burkhart.

Bay City ISD hosted a business and community leader’s summit last Thursday to get feedback on what they were looking for in partnering with the district.    Bay City ISD Superintendent Dr. Dwight McHazlett gave over 30 attendees a rundown of district goals achieved in the 2022-23 school year.

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-13.

Palacios museum features seawall exhibit

Palacios, Texas    The City by the Sea Museum’s new temporary exhibit, “Shifting Shorelines: The Construction and Impact of the Palacios Seawall” is on view beginning July 20th and will run through September 9th.     Seawalls are tools that coastal communities use to combat flooding and erosion.

A search warrant executed in the 2900 block of Avenue I July 21, resulted in the seizure of drugs, weapons and currency, Bay City police said.      The search warrant was requested by the narcotics unit after spending months working to build this case.
