   Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, Bay City Fire Marshal, and Bay City Police Department were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 1500 block 8th  St, Bay City, at about 8:19 a.m. Wednesday, May 31.     A white Ford F-350 was found to have flames and smoke coming from the engine compartment.

   County Attorney Jennifer Chau tried to negotiate the County Jail’s water and sewer bill at City Council’s regular meeting Tuesday, May 23.    Council members pushed back Chau’s suggestions that the city could discount the county’s bill.

Tenaris celebrates 10 years of Matagorda County scholarships

   Tenaris has awarded $196,000 in Roberto Rocca Scholarships to Matagorda County high school students in a year that marks the company’s 10th anniversary of its Student of the Year award.

   Phillips 66 honors 2023 Science/Math Teachers of the Year Phillips 66 Sweeny Refinery honored eight area high school educators- including two from Matagorda County teaching in the science or math fields with the 2023 Science/Math Teacher Recognition Award.
