"Court accepts application for tax abatement" by: Mike Reddell

   Commissioners Court accepted the tax abatement application from Tenaris Maverick Tube Corporation in a split vote at its meeting Monday, May 1.     County Judge Bobby Seiferman told the court it just had to vote on accepting the application.

Luther Hotel opens for inspection

   People and experts supporting preservation of the Luther Hotel were allowed inside the locked gates surrounding the hotel on April 25.

Electrical fire causes additional damage to apartment building

   A light fixture above an apartment stairwell - believed damaged from a previous fire - is blamed for an apartment building fire at 4408 Hiram Brandon, building E. Friday, April 28, Fire Marshal Dan Shook reported.

Shooting circumstances remain unclear

   Officers were sent to the 1300 block of 7th Street, in reference to shots fired, a little after 2 a.m. Friday, April 28.    Upon arrival, someone pointed to an area of the parking lot saying someone had gotten shot.     Officers made contact with the victim, a 33-year-old man from Bay City.
