January county fire calls

   Bay City Volunteer Fire Department:      On January 24, 2023 at 8:41 a.m., Bay City Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist Midfield Volunteer Fire Department with a motor vehicle accident at the 11900 block of Hwy 35.      On January 24, 2023 at 8:51 p.m.

"County OKs contract for grant writing" by: Mike Reddell

   A contract to provide grant-writing services for economic development infrastructure projects was approved by Matagorda County Commissioners Court at its meeting Monday, Jan. 30.     The contract with Patriot Strategies will provide grant writing and government affairs consulting services.

Hot work blamed for small fire

   Hot work was blamed for a fire that caused about $1,000 in damage at 1905 7th St. Wednesday, Jan. 18, Fire Marshal Dan Shook said.    The building owner was performing hot work on the ceiling of the 1st floor of the building, Shook said.
