While watching her daughter Chelsea show meat pen rabbits, Kalaya Riccio had no idea that she would win a white ribbon and make the annual junior livestock auction last weekend.     “The goal for us was not to win grand champion,” said Riccio.

Families and friends filled the Van Vleck High School auditorium last Sunday to hear children of all ages perform in the annual Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Association (MCFLA) Talent Show and Public Speaking contest.

The Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Association’s Home Economics Food Show auction raised about $19,000 for local students, Saturday, Feb. 25.    That number is an increase of $4,300 from last year’s $14,700.
