HomeTown Parade winners announced

   A total of 62 entries were part of the 2022 Annual HomeTown Christmas Celebration Lighted Christmas Parade last Friday.    The Bay City Parks and Recreation Department announced the category winners in first-third place Monday afternoon.

Toys for Tots’ Matagorda County deadline approaches

   Applications for “Toys for Tots Matagorda County” are due Saturday, Dec. 10.    Last year, the toy program handed out over 900 toys to local children.    The forms are available online at https://bay-city-tx.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/local-toy-request-single-form.aspx?

Applications due by December 14th for Free Bikes

   Wednesday, Dec. 14 is the deadline to apply for one of 68 free children’s bikes at the Matagorda County Sheriff’s department.    The bikes were donated by Ace Hardware and range in size based on the child’s age or height.

   The Tidehaven Tigers fell to Poth 18-6 in the UIL quarterfinals game at Texas State University stadium in San Marcos, Friday night, Dec. 2.    In a hard-fought game that really wasn’t decided until late in the game, Tidehaven kept the high-scoring Poth in check, but only scored once.

   If you’ve driven downtown lately, you might have noticed a new business on the west side of the square.    Formerly known as the “Heart and Home” building, Help Inc. officially opened its doors in early October.    Located at 2140 Ave F, the store is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
