   The Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture hosted a luncheon with District 22 Congressman Troy Nehls last week.     “We are at a troubling time in our country,” said Nehls.     “Our whole infrastructure needs improving. Not to mention flood mitigation along with our roads and bridges.

Flags honor 9/11 at Tidehaven

Sentinel Photo/Jessica Shepard Tidehaven Athletic Booster Club inducted Diana Fisher into the Hall of Fame during halftime Friday, Sept. 9. Family members were on hand to receive the plaque in Fisher's stead. Fisher's sporting accomplishments included volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Fisher was also the first female athlete from Tidehaven to qualify at the state track meet throughout her high school career. She also achieved All District in basketball in her sophomore, junior, and senior years.

    About 150 people attended the Highly Innovative Fuels (HIF) town hall community event Aug. 30.      The event featured an informational presentation on the proposed $6 billion plant and timeline of the project.

   Matagorda Regional Medical Center Foundation celebrated 15 years of service and support for the community at a reception Thursday, Sept. 1.      MRMC Foundation Executive Director Tiffany Foltyn recognized her board members and the foundation’s accomplishments since its inception.

   Matagorda County Hospital District board approved participation in the new TIRZ 4 board last week.      TIRZ (Tax Reinvestment Reinvestment Zone) 4 is the new 189-home subdivision developed by Jim Maddox.      City Manager Shawna Burkhart earlier explained TIRZ 4 to the board.

Police arrest Bay City woman on improper relationship

   Bay City police arrested a 31-year-old woman of for improper relationship between educators and online solicitation of a minor under 14 Thursday morning, Aug. 25, police reports show. Sgt. Minerva Pena, was sent to Municipal Court Aug. 25 for a warrant service.
