BCISD Bridges Café orders due Sept. 9

   The Bay City ISD Bridges Cafe students will be cooking lunch for BCISD and the community on Friday, Sept. 16.      Food orders are due by Friday, Sept. 9, and include free delivery to any BCISD campus.

BCPL: Community Convos begins with Vaping 101

   Bay City Public Library is bringing back the community dinner series retitled as Community Convos from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.      The topic for the first gathering will be Vaping 101 presented by the Matagorda/Wharton Community Coalition of BACODA.

   Playing their 2022 home opener at Memorial Stadium on Friday night against the Edna Cowboys didn’t turn out the way the Blackcats hoped for.     They lost to the Edna Cowboys by a score of 27-21.     Turnovers and mistakes were the bigger nemesis of the Blackcats.

Tidehaven crushes Odem

   The Tidehaven Tigers scored 27 second-half points to overpower the Odem Owls 34-7 there Friday, Sept. 2.      The Tigers’ leading rusher was junior running back Joseph Dodds with 215 yards, on 13 carries, with a 64-yard touchdown.

Structural fire caused by electrical short

   An electrical outlet short caused a fire at Auto Max Collision, 921 Ave F North Friday, Aug. 19, Fire Marshal Dan Shook reported.    Bay City Volunteer Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 2:25 p.m.

"BCISD sets budget, tax hearing date" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City ISD trustees unanimously set the public hearing date for the proposed budget and tax rate during their regular meeting, Tuesday, Aug. 23.    All trustees were present for the meeting.    The public meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the BCISD Administration Building.

   Tourism council welcomed newly hired Tourism Director Darve Smith at its regular meeting, Aug. 29.    Smith moved into his office Friday, Aug. 26.    “I’m looking forward to getting to know this board and excited to promote tourism here in Bay City and Matagorda County,” he said.
